Make It Happen

28 Apr

On Friday last week I had the honour of presenting at a charity fund raising event, organised by Kriss Akabusi (http://www.akabusi.com/) on behalf of The Akabusi Charitable Trust and  Action for Children. A great event with some wonderful speakers from around the Uk and a large audience from businesses of all sizes, and all parts of the country.

My presentation looked at the continued growth of social media and the impact on the social cohesion of both business and society at large. Lots of interesting discussion with people in the networking sessions afterwards. Best of all it raises a substantial amount for some important charities.

In case anyone is interested, here are the slides:

technology Forecast 2012 – Aberdeen

06 Jan

Spent today putting the finishing touches to the Aberdeen version my annual ScotlandIS Technology Forecast presentation. This will be the 7th year I’ve worked with the ScotlandIS team and the 3rd year that we’ve run the event in Aberdeen.  It’s being held at the Thistle Hotel, Souterhead Road, Aberdeen, AB12 3LF on 24th January from 5-8 pm. To register for this event please contact Leigh-Ann on 01506 472200.

Should be great evening and hopefully the presentation will stimulate a lot of discussion about where the Scottish industry is heading during 2012.

This is a good opportunity for the Scottish IT community to get together to network and to hear about the trends that will shape the industry during 2012. As the ScotlandIS team put it:

David will provide a whistle stop tour of technology trends and key developments which will impact the industry in the short to medium term.  Always informative with a humorous twist, this is a ‘not to be missed opportunity’ to re-assess how markets are likely to change, and what to look out for in 2012, and beyond, as we start the new year.

It’d be great to see as many of the Scottish IT community as possible.

Spent today putting the finishing touches to my annual ScotlandIS Technology Forecast presentation. This will be the 7th year I’ve worked with the ScotlandIS team and the 6th year that DLA Piper have hosted the event in their Edinburgh office.  DLA Piper partner (John McKinlay) and ScotlandIS Executive Director (Polly Purvis) will host the evening. Should be great evening and hopefully the presentation will stimulate a lot of discussion about where the Scottish industry is heading during 2012.
